General Information

The Woolly Mammoth or Mammuthus primigeniusis a fairly large member of the Elephantidae family that is most famous for its' thick coat of hair it used in the cold ice age winters. It lived in North America and Eurasia during the Holocene period (0.15-0.004 mya) and was evantually hunted to extinction by Homo sapiens along with other large North American megafauna.

Zoo Tycoon

The Woolly Mammoth is an adoptable animal in Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs. It is only available by research. Compatible animals with the Woolly Mammoth are the Woolly Rhinoceros, the Giant Ground Sloth, the Macrauchenia, and the Giant Tortoise.

A prehistoric American creature from the Ice Age, its' most suitable biome is the Tundra, with the exhibit being ideal at 75 squares and fitting best in a habitat wherein there is two to six specimens residing. They are most comfortable at 10% elevation.

They have 185 strength, 50 initial happiness, a crowd shyness score of 30, and have an attraction score of 55 to adults and 160 to children.

They cost $3,200 each, making a best-suited habitat at least $6,400.

Zoo Tycoon 2

In Zoo Tycoon 2 many mods exist to add in a Woolly Mammoth including, one in Bill Ngyuen's Majestic Megafauna (currently Part 1 which includes the mammoth is being redone), one in the Ice Age Eurasia Pack by Kangorilaphant, one by Tyranachu at the Round Table, and one by andrew12 in his Recent Extinctions pack. Some have speculated that the mammoth from the original game was to return but was instead replaced by the American Mastodon later in development for unknown reasons; this can be supported by the appearance of a Woolly Mammoth on the box art for Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals.
